StartLLCGuides exists because the average founder cannot afford a $400-an-hour lawyer to read fifty state statutes for them. So we read the statutes — and then we publish what we found.
We are an editorial publication, not a service provider. We do not form LLCs. We do not file paperwork on anyone's behalf. We do receive affiliate compensation when readers choose to use formation services we have reviewed — and we disclose those relationships on every page, in writing, where every reader can see them.
The arrangement protects what matters most: the independence of what we publish. We have rejected sponsorships that asked us to soften criticism. We have issued corrections when our reporting was wrong. We re-audit our state-fee tables every quarter, because the alternative is publishing stale numbers that quietly mislead our readers.
The publication is staffed by editors with backgrounds in tax law, accounting, and investigative journalism. Our work is reviewed, before it ships, by a board of licensed attorneys and certified public accountants who are paid for their time but who do not own, control, or direct the publication.
Four issues a year. One concise editor's analysis of an LLC topic that matters.
